A romance shaped by the life around it
Yi-Ming and Ting-Ting are not meeting for the first time. They are confronting a version of themselves that once existed together and asking whether the choices they made when they were younger still have to determine their future.
Season one gives the romance unusual adult weight because Yi-Ming’s decisions affect more than her own heart. She is a mother, she is married, and she is surrounded by family expectations. Ting-Ting represents both a real person in the present and the life Yi-Ming was once too afraid to imagine for herself.
Season two returns to the pair years later and lets the story examine what happens after longing has already changed both women. Rather than repeating the first season, it tests whether love that survived in memory can become something sustainable in everyday life.
